As part of the Easter holiday campaign “Technik für Kinder” (Technology for Kids), 40 children aged 10 to 14 had the opportunity to get a close-up look at industrial professions at the Sturm Group on Tuesday, April 19 and Wednesday, April 20.

For the first time the machine and plant manufacturer took part in this activity and it was worth it: The inquisitive youngsters showed their skills in soldering, programming and pneumatics. The programme also included a tour of the company premises including a company presentation, getting to know the in-house training workshop, lunch and a raffle. In this way, the school children learned about the practical use of technology and tools in a playful way.

“Young people are undoubtedly the basis for every successful company. For the Sturm Group, training is an important pillar for attracting future skilled workers,” says Moritz Hoque, Team Leader Training. The “Technology for Kids” courses help – especially in view of the sharp decline in apprenticeship applicants – to promote the next generation of technicians and to inspire them for the skilled trades. Perhaps the two days were the first impetus for one or the other participant to develop career prospects.
