Nowadays automobiles are among the most complex systems requiring a high degree of reliability and safety. For this reason many car manufacturers require a recognised quality certificate for products and services. Due to the high proportion of projects in the automotive industry, the management of the Sturm Gruppe decided at the end of 2018 to obtain certification in accordance with the standards of the German Association of the Automotive Industry. In addition to improving its own process capability through controlled procedures, this type of certification can strengthen the trust of business partners and also ensure competitiveness.

After almost one year of preparation, the certification audit of the VDA standard work finally took place last month (14.10. until 18.10.2019). During this period, two auditors from the accredited certification body ICM (International Certification Management) were on site to evaluate the company processes in accordance with the requirements.

A large number of business processes (management and strategic orientation of the company, the quotation process, handling of projects, planning and implementation of design/production) as well as various other processes were examined in the respective departments.

By interviewing employees and reviewing documents during the audit, the auditors were convinced of the introduction and implementation of the QM system. They found the entire team to be highly motivated and committed.

The positive news: Sturm Maschinen- & Anlagenbau passed the certification successfully!
